Success Story: Titan^® Chain Used in Foundry Drive Application Outlasts the Competitor

The customer was using small 30 pitch sections of carbon steel chain on a daisy-wheel style application conveying sand molds, that are building cast engine parts. The chain was not able to be lubricated and is subjected to violent stopping and starting as well as heavy dirt and sand. They were averaging 8-10 months service life from the carbon steel chain.

In conjunction with Applied^®, U.S. Tsubaki supplied the Titan^® chain and instructed them to use little to no lubrication. Lubrication in this case would draw the sand and dirt into the chain causing failure. The special coated pin creates a smoother surface allowing the pin to be protected in more difficult to lube applications.

The Titan^® chain lasted in the application the first time through 18 months providing an $11,512 cost savings. This customer has now switched out all their chain in the plant to the Titan^®.
